I was getting frustrated with the current state of my life and I looked for a solution and found it. How to overcome writer's block: -recognize the signs of writer's block: lack of concentration, uninspired thoughts, moody feelings about your work, etc. -try to change your environment: go outside and take a walk, play some music you like as loud as you want (or as loud as your housemates/roommates will let you), or veg out in front of the TV if that sounds more appealing. Make sure you're not too tired though; those can create mood swings that might exacerbate any issues you're already having. -change your routine: even if the change is small, it'll get you out of the slump. Go to a different coffee shop, hang out with a different group of friends/family, try listening to new music. -if you're writing in a notebook or on paper, try typing it on the computer instead. This may help anyway even if you find yourself more easily distracted or prone to writer's block when on the computer How to increase productivity: -find an accountability buddy. It doesn't matter what they do for work, what matters is that they are willing to hold you accountable for getting work done each week/month/etc. -make each day an hour of work. This way, if you get distracted or sleepy, you've still finished your work for the day. -find the time to get the best work done. If it's not possible to focus for an entire hour, then don't force it; pick a few hours each day that you know you're going to try your hardest (and hopefully succeed) in finishing what you're doing. How to reduce stress: -write down everything that stresses you out before it happens. Then write down all the things that make you happy or relieve stress. For a list of things that make you happy, you can look at your saved pictures on your computer, think about the last time you did/were something that made you happy, or ask a friend for ideas. I hope this helps! -get into a routine that helps reduce stress from your life. This can be anything from going to bed at a certain time to taking a walk/run every morning. -try meditating once a day for ten minutes. This may sound like it doesn't take much time but it will give you an opportunity to clear your head about whatever stresses you out and focus on relaxing and not stressing out so much. -don't always think about calmness and relaxation; sometimes, it's okay to really focus on your work for a little bit. Sometimes, you need to pinch yourself (in a good way) and remind yourself that you can make something wonderful happen. How to write creatively: -write the story in the voice of someone else if it helps you write better (for example, writing like George Lucas would write Star Wars). If all else fails, look at different genres (for example, if you feel like writing action or romance, then try reading an action or romance book.) -write what you know about. eccc085e13
